For the first time in 2024, we will be selling our top 24 bulls by Helmsman Auction interfaced with AuctionsPlus, at our first on-property sale on Wednesday 2nd October.

The Sale Catalogue is available online, accessible at the Murray Grey Beef Cattle Society website or AuctionsPlus. If you would like a hard copy of the catalogue, just let us know and we can post one out to you. Please note, there is an error on page 31 of the sale catalogue - the top bull (silver) is actually Mount Major Strzelecki S37 and the middle bull (grey) is Mount Major Skipper S3. Apologies for any confusion.

Our sale bulls are all vaccinated, scanned, independently assessed, parentage verified and tested for breeding soundness (including semen morphology). The first round of bull breeding soundness exams was conducted on 2 September 2024 by Dr Brett Davis of GV Vets, with scanning and assessment by Liam Cardile of Beef Xcel on 9 September 2024. Breeding soundness re-tests were carried out on 22 September 2024. It is inevitable when assessing yearling bulls that some semen re-tests will be needed. Four bulls have been withdrawn as they have not yet passed their breeding soundness exams. These bulls will be re-tested in 3 weeks and, providing they pass, will be offered for private sale after 30 October:

• Lot 1 (Uno DVD U1)
• Lot 6 (Uniacke DVD U13)
• Lot 10 (Union DVD U25)
• Lot 24 (Ursa Major DVD U51).

Supplementary Sheet 2 shows EBVs and Indexes for all animals, based on the August Breedplan update (and based on the Mating Predictor for calves). ABRI have advised that the September update has been delayed due to technical difficulties.
